Pay Later Terms
These terms apply when you choose to pay for your total loss appraisal after your insurance company pays out on your vehicle, instead of paying upfront. They add to our Terms of Service. Nothing is charged when you add your card, and you pay the same price you would pay upfront.

1. The Fees
Your appraisal fee is the amount shown on your Pay Later page, including any discount or same-day delivery offer you had. It is the same price you would pay upfront. There is no extra fee, interest or charge for paying later.
Nothing is charged when you add your card.
If your insurance company comes back with a fair number after seeing our appraisal, there is nothing more to pay. The only other fee is for the appraisal clause, if your claim goes that far and we handle it for you (section 5). That rate is shown on your Pay Later page before you agree.
2. When the Appraisal Fee Is Due
Your appraisal fee is due on whichever of these comes first:
- the day your insurance company pays out on your vehicle, whether the payout goes to you or to your lender; or
- 30 days after we deliver your appraisal.
If your claim goes to the appraisal clause before your appraisal fee is paid, the 30 days does not apply. Your appraisal fee is then due when the appraisal award is signed.
3. How We Charge
- When a fee is due, we will email you at the address you gave us, with the amount and the date it will be charged.
- You can pay any time before the charge date using the link in that email.
- If the fee is still unpaid 7 days after that email, we will charge the card you added.
- If the charge does not go through, the fee is still owed, and we will contact you to arrange payment.
4. Max Value Guarantee
If your vehicle payout does not go up by at least the cost of our appraisal, you will not be charged the appraisal fee. Send us your final payout letter before the charge date and we will cancel the charge. If you have already been charged, send us the letter and we will refund you.
5. The Appraisal Clause
Sometimes a claim goes to the appraisal clause in your policy. Either you or your insurance company can start it.
If your claim goes to the appraisal clause and we handle it for you, our fee for that step is 15% of any increase over your insurance company's latest offer, unless a different rate is shown on your Pay Later page. It is based only on what the appraisal clause adds, not on any increase you got before it. If there is no increase, there is no fee.
For example, if your insurance company's latest offer is $18,000 and the appraisal clause ends at $19,000, the fee is 15% of $1,000, which is $150.
This fee is due when the appraisal award is signed, together with your appraisal fee if that is still unpaid. We charge it the same way: we email you first with the amount, and charge the card you added 7 days later if it is still unpaid.
6. Your Card
- Your card details are stored by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. We keep only the card type, the last four digits and the expiry date.
- By adding your card, you authorize My Write Off Valuations Inc. to charge it for the fees described here, in the amounts and at the times described here, and for nothing else unless you agree otherwise in writing.
- To use a different card, reply to any of our emails or call us and we will send you a secure link to update it.
- Once your fees are paid or waived, this authorization ends.
7. Cancelling
You can cancel this authorization at any time by contacting us. If you cancel before we deliver your appraisal, you owe nothing and we stop work. If you cancel after we deliver your appraisal, the appraisal fee is still owed and becomes due right away, and you can pay it by any method we accept.
8. Changes to These Terms
If we change these terms, we will email you before the change applies to you. The version you agreed to is recorded with your order.
